10-Day Tanzania Wildlife & Cultural Journey
Discover a side of Tanzania that goes beyond wildlife alone. This ten-day journey blends classic safari landscapes with photography and meaningful cultural encounters, moving through Lake Manyara, Lake Eyasi, the Ngorongoro Highlands and the Serengeti. Along the way, you will experience very different environments and meet communities whose traditions remain deeply connected to the land, including the Hadzabe, Datoga, Iraqw and Maasai.
The safari then opens into some of northern Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife areas, from the forests and wetlands of Manyara to the Ngorongoro Crater and the endless Serengeti plains. It is a journey designed to balance people, place and wildlife, creating a richer picture of Tanzania than a safari focused on game drives alone.

Day 1: Arrival at JRO / Arusha Airport
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where your guide will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing after your journey and settling into Tanzania. This first evening gives you time to rest and prepare comfortably for the adventure ahead.
Overnight: Arusha
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring its remarkably varied habitats. Wetlands, forests and acacia woodlands support a rich mix of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and large troops of baboons. The park is also especially rewarding for birdlife, making it an excellent introduction to the diversity of northern Tanzania.
Dinner & Overnight: Karatu
Day 3: Karatu → Lake Eyasi
After breakfast, travel at an easy pace toward Lake Eyasi, arriving in time for lunch at camp. The lake offers a beautiful combination of open landscapes, birdlife and cultural experiences, with a noticeably different atmosphere from the major safari parks. Later in the afternoon, enjoy a walk and birdwatching around the lake, looking for waterfowl, herons, flamingos and other species.
Dinner & Overnight: Lake Eyasi
Day 4: Lake Eyasi
Begin early with a cultural experience alongside the Hadza, one of Tanzania’s remaining hunter-gatherer communities. Learn about traditional tracking, hunting and gathering techniques while observing aspects of daily life that have been passed down through generations. Afterwards, continue to nearby communities to discover the crafts and traditions of the Datoga and Iraqw, including blacksmithing and traditional jewellery-making.
Dinner & Overnight: Lake Eyasi
Day 5: Lake Eyasi → Ngorongoro
After breakfast, leave Lake Eyasi and travel toward the Ngorongoro Highlands for a Maasai cultural experience. Visit a traditional village and learn about Maasai customs, daily life and the traditions that continue to shape their relationship with the surrounding landscape. Take part in cultural activities such as beadwork, singing and dancing before continuing to your lodge.
Dinner & Overnight: Ngorongoro Highlands
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater
Start early with packed breakfast and lunch before descending from the crater rim onto the Ngorongoro Crater floor. Spend the day exploring one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary wildlife environments, where open grasslands, wetlands and woodland support elephants, lions, rhinos and many other species. The dramatic crater walls provide a spectacular backdrop throughout the day.
Dinner & Overnight: Ngorongoro
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater → Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, carry a packed lunch and travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the Serengeti. The journey itself becomes part of the safari as highland scenery gradually gives way to vast open plains. Enter the Serengeti and begin exploring an ecosystem renowned for its wildlife, big cats and seemingly endless horizon.
Dinner & Overnight: Serengeti
Days 8–9: Serengeti
Set out early with a packed breakfast, when the cooler morning hours offer excellent opportunities to search for lions, cheetahs and other predators. As the day continues, explore different parts of the plains in search of giraffes, hyenas, wildebeest and the Serengeti’s many other wildlife species. With two full days available, there is time to follow sightings patiently and experience the scale of the landscape without rushing.
Dinner & Overnight: Serengeti
Day 10: Serengeti → Arusha
Enjoy one final morning game drive across the Serengeti before beginning your return journey. Take in the plains and any last wildlife encounters before travelling back toward Arusha or flying from the Serengeti, depending on your onward arrangements. Your journey ends after ten days of wildlife, landscapes and cultural encounters across northern Tanzania.
